Children begin learning a foreign language at an early age. Some schools offer language immersion tracks to children as young as elementary school age. In some areas of the country, teachers must be multilingual because English is a second language to many students. The demand for foreign language teachers and teaching professionals who are multilingual is increasing.

Unfortunately, teachers are often not provided with a salary that takes their language skills into account. Teachers usually do not earn a decent living until the later years of their career. This means many years of struggling to make ends meet, especially for a newly married teacher with a small child. Many teachers must supplement their incomes in some way in order to get by during these years.

It is often difficult to find a part-time job with a schedule compatible with school hours. These jobs usually start at around noon or late at night. Teachers get up at the crack of dawn to prepare for the school day so a late-night job is not an option. Work from home ideas are much more flexible and teachers can schedule their hours around school and personal obligations.

Teachers skilled in foreign languages can establish an online language instruction business. Lessons can be prepared using PowerPoint and Word. Learning a language involves mastering pronunciation and inflexion and this can be exhibited through Webinars. Pronunciation lessons can be pre-recorded and live sessions can be mixed in so the teacher can assess student progress. This is excellent supplemental instruction for young students struggling to master languages like Spanish or French.
